Veld	materiaalsoort
Definitie	Het veld 'materiaalsoort' documenteert het soort drager waarop de informatie is vastgelegd.
Invulregels	De materiaalsoort staat in het enkelvoud. Als de te beschrijven publicatie samengesteld is uit verschillende materialen dan wordt binnen één titelbeschrijving een hoofdmateriaal bepaald. Het hoofdmateriaal is de drager waarop het belangrijkste informatie-aandeel gepubliceerd is, bijvoorbeeld taalcursussen die bestaan uit een boek en een cd krijgen 'boek' als materiaalsoort. Bij evenwaardige informatiebijdragen op verschillende dragers is de uitgavevorm bepalend voor de keuze van het hoofdmateriaal. Bij bijvoorbeeld een boek met dezelfde informatie op cd is het hoofdmateriaal 'boek' als de cd in de boekflap toegevoegd is. Als de tekst in een cd-tekstboekvorm uitgegeven is, is het hoofdmateriaal 'cd'.
